International Research Network on DRR

International Research Network on DRR was established by ICCR-DRR, which provides a platform for international communication and knowledge, technique and experience exchange on disaster risk reduction.

In accordance with the objectives and strategies of CBDM Asia to strengthen south-south cooperation and exchange, ICCR-DRR establishes the International Research Network on DRR, which provides a platform for international communication and knowledge, technique and experience exchange on disaster risk reduction. International Research Network on DRR consists of research centers and institutes engaged in disaster risk reduction, emergency management, post-disaster reconstruction and other relevant studies. The Advisory Committee of ICCR-DRR will provide required support to the research network as well.

 

Currently, International Research Network on DRR has eighteen endorsed members, including forteen universities/ research institutes, three government agencies and one global organization. And the number of members of International Research Network is continuously increasing.

 

International Research Network on DRR targets to achieve its objectives in two main ways. Firstly, the network will regularly organize international research forums on disaster risk reduction, focusing on the research topics of the ICCR-DRR. Secondly, the network will fund research activities of endorsed members, ranging from workshops, seminars, scholar exchange activities, case studies, to ad-hoc researches centering on the main objectives of ICCR-DRR. The research network activities should reflect international collaboration with the potentials of scaling up and meet urgent needs of the natural disasters, focusing on disaster management, promoting or enhancing local DRR technology, materials and culture.
